DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the 2nd Annual Bywater Humanities Lecture presenting Roger Calabuig on Tuesday, April 21 at 5:30 p.m. at GCB 422 via Zoom. Roger Calabuig has more than 20 years of experience in the international cooperation and humanitarian sector, working in nearly 50 countries all around the world. He is an environmental engineer, specialist in water management, with a master's degree in International Cooperation for Development. He also has a master's degree in Literature and Creative Writing. Roger will talk about how history could help to protect the life of the poorest and most vulnerable people, how understanding the roots of poverty and inequity and its relation with colonialism is crucial when it comes to help those in need, and why philosophy is essential to confront the ethical dilemmas of aid and the real meaning of solidarity.
